Mount Carmel Township supervisor (D) faces challenger on Tuesday

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP — Incumbent Mount Carmel Township Supervisor Chuck Koveleskie is facing a challenge in Tuesday’s general election from Gary Namet, a retired postal worker.

The two candidates vary on some of the issues.

Koveleskie, 61, a Democrat and a former Mount Carmel Area School District maintenance employee, was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board then ran for a six-year term on the board in 2019. He said he is running again to continue to work on his priorities, such as regionalizing the fire department and a flood prevention project for Butternut Creek.

“I’ve been working on getting easements, and talking with the Army Corps of Engineers,” Koveleskie said. “I’d like to get rid of blight in the township.
