As a cat person I found this history of cats very interesting. I thought others might as well.

Yes. Cats are (along with rats) the predominant host for the fleas that carry plague and it killed them as well. hlthe2b 22 hrs ago #3

I'm sure sick or suspect cats were killed in large numbers as well--even if they did not quite understand the transmission cycle.
