Anyone here at DU interested in Fanfiction? Here's an in depth discussion of the tagging system. [View all]
Fanfiction isn't mere entertainment. It is self-expression and cultural observation and democracy writ large. I have peeked in some corners that I find rather dark and disturbing, and the tagging system can be helpful in avoiding content that would mess me up for days. Just reading about certain stories offends me, but I would be far more offended by the notion of censorship in such online spaces.
The tags themselves have provided me with something of an education, and that includes tags that I wouldn't dream about clicking on.
