3. I second 3Hotdogs' advice: call your representative in Congress.

Or, do it as you're arranging to meet with VA.

If bills are coming due, fire all the guns.

Also, meet with the assigned fiduciary. If they're empowered, they can pay the bills while all this is getting straightened out.

The Veterans Administration is pretty good, as long as you can avoid actual administrators.
