Social Security question

Mrs. Returnee recently received a small (under $200) from SS directly into her bank account. Problem is she is below retirement age and has made no application of any kind to SS. Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

1. No idea. Try calling SS. If no success, call your Congressman for two reasons:

1) their constituent services are pretty good
2) it makes them aware of the problem

Make it their problem. It's the only way to get them to stop this nightmare.

2. You can try to return it, but I'm reading their customer svc is malfunctional (long wait times, etc)

They're closing regional offices, as well.

5. Is she receiving Medicare?

You can receive Medicare without receiving SS. If so, I’m wondering if shes receiving the Medicare Savings Program which pays for Medicare Part B.if you’re under a certain income.

She checked her account on The SS website and there was no indication of any payment to her.
