Looking to limit birthright citizenship, Trump turns to an 1884 Supreme Court ruling against a Native American man
March 29, 2026, 5:00 AM EDT / Updated March 29, 2026, 9:15 AM EDT WASHINGTON In a moment that could take on new significance almost 150 years later, Omaha election official Charles Wilkins on April 5, 1880, refused to register John Elk to vote on the grounds that he was Native American, and therefore not an American citizen. Elk believed to have been a member of what is now known as the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska objected, saying he had severed all ties with his tribe and had willingly ...

The Pope's Sermon This Morning Was a Rebuke of Pete Hegseth
On Sunday, Pope Leo said that God refuses the prayers of leaders who have hands full of blood, in what appeared to be a direct rebuke to many Trump administration officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who have invoked religious rhetoric to justify their war with Iran. This is our God: Jesus, King of Peace, who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify war, Leo said to thousands of people attending his Palm Sunday mass at St. Peters Square. He does not listen to the prayer ...
Millions turn out for "No Kings" rallies held worldwide to protest against Trump
(CBS News) Crowds of people protested Saturday against the war in Iran and President Trump's actions, in "No Kings" rallies across the U.S. and in Europe. Minnesota took center stage, in what organizers said were mass demonstrations involving millions of people. U.S. organizers had estimated that the first two rounds of No Kings rallies drew more than 5 million people in June and 7 million in October. On Saturday, they estimated that at least 8 million participants took part in more than 3,300 events worldwide. Thousands of people stood shoulder-to-shoulder on the Minnesota Capitol lawn and surrounding streets in St. Paul. Some held upside down U.S. flags, historically a sign of distress.
No Kings 3 was the largest day of protest in US history. Here's what comes next.
(Indivisible) Well be launching nationwide community meetings -- hosted by protest organizers and attendees -- to help people politically awakened by No Kings get involved with sustained local actions around ICE monitoring, election protection, and noncooperation. We always say mass mobilizations are just one tactic. Economic disruption is another tactic. And its most successful when youve done the work to build a large, broad-based coalition of folks ready for higher-level actions. So now, the ground is laid for May Day Strongs national day of No school, no work, no shopping to put the oligarchs enabling Trumps power grabs on notice.
At least 8 million march in "No Kings" protest against Trump
(MS NOW) At least 8 million people nationwide have taken to the streets for the third No Kings protests against Donald Trumps agenda and his war with Iran. MS NOWs Jacob Soboroff joins The Weekend: Primetime to discuss the massive turnout in Los Angeles to voice their frustration with Trump.
Twin Cities No Kings
It was YUGE. My knees and back aren't happy but I'm glad I went. Finding a place to park was an adventure, finding the car again afterwards was also a challenge; the Cathedral Hill area where I walked from is like a rabbit warren. I finally got to see Springsteen live! The best speaker IMO was Tim Walz, who lit Trump on fire for what he did here. The speaker from Haven Watch was wonderful, and Bernie was vintage Bernie. I took some photos but they aren't great - better stuff from the media. Lots of clever signs, lots of costumes and inflatables. Indivisible estimates 200,000 people!
