10. Part of the Executive Dept., I.C.E. was created during the Dubya Administration in 2003.

It falls under the Department of Homeland Security. It was a bad idea to begin with, but there is no discernible immigration position among Democrats to do anything about it. It might be time to develop one.

By my count, there have been three terms of Democrats in control of the Executive Branch since Dubya. Democrats even had control of the Legislature on occasion, should it have been necessary to share the responsibility/credit/blame. Despite calls from communities of color (particularly the Latinx communities), progressives and the D.S.A. to disband it, I.C.E. is still there; and the G.O.P. still owns the narrative on immigration. They do have an immigration policy - a horrible one.

It's fine, even accurate, to set one's hair on fire about the terrible horrible MAGAt Republicans, but it accomplishes little when "our" elected officials are unwilling to act.

If you're brave and live in a Blue district or state, give a call or write your legislator about their SPECIFIC position on immigration. I look forward to reading the responses you get.

KETV investigates a new practice by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents going door-to-door to do welfare checks on undocumented, unaccompanied children.

The Department of Homeland Security said it’s part of a nationwide effort to better monitor children who've come into the United States alone — and we know it's now happened in Omaha.

DHS says it is "leading efforts to conduct welfare checks on these children to ensure that they are safe and not being exploited, abused, and sex trafficked."

My words.
They are going there knowing there are undocumented children to do welfare checks and no one has been taken away it seems.
