Widespread Death Threats get Republicans, maybe Judges? to fall in line, vote

Most of us saw how afraid Sen. Lisa Murkowski was about death threats. Apparently there are MAGA thugs basically “running things” and Trump also issues threats.

I’ve also heard some elderly/disabled people in my “relatively safe” area being afraid to go out to protest.

“The Trump MAGA machine is powerful. They are aggressive. They are nasty. They issue death threats.”

Violent Threats Against Members of Congress Spiked as Senate Considered Trump’s Nominees

When Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) went from a likely no vote on confirming Pete Hegseth to become Defense Secretary to an easy yes, the switch was attributed to political pressure from Trump and his allies.

How death threats get Republicans to fall in line behind Trump

As a result, the threat of violence is now a part of the American political system, to the point where Republican officials are — by their own admissions — changing the way they behave because they fear it. For Richer, the price back in 2021 was high — and enough to prevent him from safely participating in his own party’s politics.

Richer was an Arizona Republican official who regularly attended local party events. At the time, he was the newly elected county recorder of Maricopa County. The job was a new level of prominence — he was now the most important election supervisory official in the state’s largest county.

But at one event, the crowd heckled and harassed him. When he tried to leave, they dragged him back in, yanking on his arms and shoulders, to berate him about the allegedly stolen 2020 election. He started to worry: Would his own people, fellow Republican Party members, seriously hurt him?

Pizzas sent as threats in name of judge’s murdered son
Judge Esther Salas highlights new tactic as intimidation against judges escalates
BRENDA FLANAGAN, SENIOR CORRESPONDENT | APRIL 16, 2025

pizzas have been delivered to judges all over this country in the last few months. And in the last few weeks — judges’ children.” Salas said her late son’s name was included with pizza deliveries this week. Daniel Anderl was shot dead in 2020 at the front door of the family’s New Jersey home by an angry lawyer Salas had previously ruled against.
“And now Daniel’s name was being weaponized to bring fear to judges and their children. You’re saying to those judges — ‘You want to end up like Judge Salas? You want to end up like Judge Salas’ son?'” she said.

Relatives of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett residing in multiple households received pizza deliveries from an unknown person over the past weekend.

Recent incidents have involved judges and their families receiving anonymous pizza deliveries as part of a form of harassment or threat, where the pizza is ordered in the name of the judge's deceased loved one.

Retire. Don't wait. Resign now.

The GOP spent a generation making this environment. Encouraged it, created media empires to harvest hate and feed monsters.

Democrats have been living with these threats for a long time now. The goons making the threats are cowards too and would vanish if challenged instead of encouraged and enabled. For all that patriotic posturing from the right, they are proving that they never had the guts to defend our Constitution or its citizens.
