Trumps Presidency Will End Badly, Karl Rove Warns: Americans Are Already Exhausted
In a recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Karl Rove, the Republican strategist often dubbed Bushs Brain, expressed concerns about the current trajectory of the Trump administration. Rove highlighted that the administrations reliance on executive orders, rather than legislation, makes its policies vulnerable to reversal by subsequent administrations. He also noted a lack of consistent messaging and a tendency to shift focus rapidly, which he believes undermines the administrations effectiveness.
Rove emphasized the importance of building bipartisan support and engaging in the legislative process to ensure lasting policy changes. He suggested that the administrations approach might be causing fatigue among Americans, who are seeking stability and clear communication from their leaders.
The former Bush advisor said, Theres way too much retribution. Most of the presidents revenge attempts will end badly for him.
Republicans could rue the day they set a new justification for retaliation from Democrats, he argued.

I am completely overwhelmed by the news - almost to the point of immobilization. I assumed any educated friends/acquaintances would be as well.
The Thursday conversation was with a former law student of mine. He had zero idea who Abrego Garcia was, or that Trump was detaining and deporting people without due process. He was at least aware enough to have some sense that this Trump presidency was different. But it shocked me that any decent thinking person could be that oblivious. (To be fair, he has a lot on his mind these days. But still . . . how do you exist without being at least peripherally aware.)
The other wasn't as shocking- but was at least mildly surprising. It also involved a former student. He's created a salon, after the model of the French Salons, for social and cultural conversations. Based on the conversation, I'd guess 80% were on the liberal side of the spectrum. But when I talked about being overwhelmed, there was an almost "What are you talking about?" kind of silence.
There is a fair amount of chatter about people not being aware unless it impacts them directly - and then only being aware of the one of many things that have a direct impact. I know that's true for what I would call low education voters - but these conversations involved partly or mostly educated people - some of whom have multiple college degrees - who seem largely oblivious to everything that is so overwhelming to me.
I live in Northern Virginia, where virtually everyone has at least one college degree, and Im constantly amazed at how clueless people here are - unless theyre directly impacted by it, like a lot of Government workers. I just dont get it.

The problem with executive orders is they aren't permanent enough? Like, Rove is worried about the impact of Trump not lasting long enough, because, elections?
Too much revenge because Dems might do it back? Like, retribution is not intended to make sure Dems never have power again, and if they do Dems are going to go totalitarian on us too? Because their retribution wouldn't be in the form of something actually legal like, say, The Hague?
