The BEST workers, i'm sure were immigrants. Material is gonna be very hard to find as well. These people were doing a great service for all communities.

(11,091 posts)I brought them food and made them take extra breaks. Sure it cost a little more. Their health mattered a lot to me. They gave me the best roof for miles around.

(19,648 posts)Company out of Fargo North Dakota did it. All Mexicans, with one person (leadman) that could i could communicate with. They were the hardest workers i've ever seen Really hot days while they were here. We handed out donuts a couple of mornings, also tried to give beverages, but they had plenty. Was very satisfied with their work. Now, thinking back i'm thinking they were immigrants? Not sure.

FEMA has become famous for the "blue-tarp" temporary roof repairs. It is sometimes ridiculed but it provides a vital service to keep that roof damage from spreading and further damaging property interiors.
Once again, every accusation is a confession. As soon as they said Biden's FEMA was abandoning North Carolina you could see the the writing on the wall.
But you are correct. It has become a real problem with prices soring. That has a carry on effect into insurance rates where the damage really shows up.

My town also has a big horse industry, including a lot of race horses that winter here. They're generally tended by immigrants, as well. Haven't seen many of them around, lately. Although, that may be due to the racing season getting underway. Lots of the horses are gone for the summer.

(33,751 posts)All you have to do is see how many of them still hire undocumented workers to run their golf motels, landscape their mansions, and tend to their family's hobby horses. They're willing to look the other way when it comes to their own needs, but otherwise, not so much.

(9,123 posts)and almost every one of them gets a "Mexican" crew to do the work. The one I know makes thousands on the job while paying very little to the crews and in some cases I've heard they refuse to pay what they promised.
This is pure exploitation that is made possible because they cannot report it or risk deportation.
We need immigrants, we have always needed immigrants, and the present day war against those that want a better life and are hard workers is evil and dumb.

(19,648 posts)Really hard for them to even think about speaking out. Especially in Texas! Texas, i'm thinking is one worst states on earth. (only because of their leadership) I wish there were a major push to get help there, to get the truth out, so people understand the important part to vote. Plus the right WAY to vote.

(5,683 posts)last June. Was a really GREAT crew of Latin guys. Not sure if all were Mexican, likely some others in the mix. The worked hard in the summer heat and did extra work, like removing an old 10ft diameter satellite dish and supporting pole. Top notch results
all for just a little over 10K.
Having flooring replaced now and the guy doing the work is a very skilled Mexican. No one can ever tell me Mexicans and Latins are lazy.
