The religous zealots want to take over this country and create a theocracy based on their beliefs.
The Magat morons want to take over this country and create a whites only authoritarian dictatorship in their image.
The rest of us just want to defend the democracy that we have and our parents, grandparents, and countless patriots have fought and died for for generations.
How does this end?

(39,518 posts)There's already so much damage done, not just to government but to the trust we have in each other. I'll never look at Trump supporting relatives & acquaintances the same. They'll wear that orange stain forever. IDK how a nation recovers from that. It's obvious a bunch of them never got over the Civil War & I don't see them changing anytime soon. I think in 6-7 years, if government & the economy stabilize & we regain some of the global status we had, they'll go back to their bigoted ways.

(1,455 posts)Although I tend to think that won't happen. No one in the world should ever trust us to be a major power. Never again. More than half the country willingly chose to have people worse than the Nazis back in charge (worse because we should know better). Eyes open, they chose a rapist, thief and liar over a decent, kind, intelligent woman. We aren't worthy of being in charge of a lemonade stand anymore.

(20,092 posts)The Constitution and Democracy demand it. Accept no substitute. And as long as there are at least two of us, we will win.
Almost forgot: FUCK TRUMP, PUTIN, MUSK AND MAGA!

(24,110 posts)His answer being, "A Republic, if you can keep it". Well we did for quite awhile but we weren't vigilant in watching out for its survival, becoming complacent and believing it would always be here. That was our sin--one of national pride in thinking we were too good to ever fail or fall like those lesser nations.
In just 3 years from now it would be 400 years since my first family member came to America from England, nothing compared to our First Nations, but just a half a year ago I never would have believed that my generation would be, could be the last to know a free country. Even if this ends well in comparison to where it's at now or is headed, America will never be the same again. We have lost the faith and trust of the other free nations of the world, allies and trading partners and I don't think we will ever get that back. We will be a second world nation with nukes, kind of like Russia, longing for the good old days.
