"Embassy:
The official representation of El Salvador's government in Washington, D.C., where it conducts diplomatic and consular affairs.
Consulate:
The official representation of El Salvador's government in New York City, primarily serving Salvadoran citizens in the region.
Diplomatic residences:
The residences of the Ambassador and Consul General, as well as other members of the diplomatic staff, which are also considered government property."
All this has to be worth more than the $15 million paid to them to hold the abducted men (but the distributed fee is not clear: for one man or for all of them?)
We should sue El Salvador for the return of ALL of the men. We have leverage (I think.)

(124,349 posts)Do you think this government would lift a finger against El Salvador? And anyhow, foreign governments are immune from suit in US courts per the Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act, with a few exceptions that wouldn't apply.
