I go back and forth about how much news to watch. It's really hard to avoid it altogether.
I know this is hurting everyone. Even MAGA supporters, who seem unaware of how much it's harmed their decency and mental stability.
I saw this article on Vox about someone who feels troubled by how much she wants to avoid the news:

(124,391 posts)I can't do much, but yesterday I signed up for monthly donations to the ACLU, which has been doing the heavy lifting in the Abrego Garcia case, and I intend to go to as many demonstrations and protests as I can. I don't watch a lot of cable news because they mostly just rehash stuff, but I read as much as I can - including actual court decisions, not just summaries of them. Anger is motivating.

3. VD Vance visited the pope yesterday.
4. The pope lectured VD Vance on immigrants.
5. Dumpster Trump is yelling at Jerome Powell which in turn is making the stock market tank.
6. I am sure there will be more as the day goes on!

(39,467 posts)My wife has never been interested in television news and opinion.
We read all our news, mostly via paper and electronic subscriptions.
I can skip past the headlines I can't do anything about. I'm not forced to suffer through the news that would burn me out.
Best of all I rarely here Trump's voice, which makes my skin crawl.
