We are dealing with some endemically stupid people.
There was someone on Facebook I unfriended because he was a loud MAGA meme instigator. I just bumped into someone who talked to him recently. Said he's having a hard time because he's trying to sell his house and buy a new house that's big enough to live with his new wife. But, no one is even interested in looking. I imagine the house glut in Florida isn't helping. But, get this, he still supports Trump because he's sure that even if it takes the rest of his presidential term, Trump will remove taxes from Social Security. That would give him five thousand dollars more a year to live on. He has blinders on to everything else, including that Trump is trying to destroy social security.
I think people in Florida that don't have means have a very peculiar way to live. I know a bachelor (divorced) older man, who appears to be reasonable in every way, except of course the Trump thing. Well, that pairs with the rest of the weird things that go on in his life.
He is a much, much older man and when he was traveling in Tampa he was at the bar of the hotel talking with the bartender. He was overheard by this attractive woman who was 20 years younger than he was. She came up to him and said, it sounds like you're a very kind man. Long story short, she came home with him, they co-habitated and it was obvious that it became a relationship where kinship was being exchanged for food, quarters and when her car broke down, car expenses. She took the car in and he approved work on repairs, and when he went to pay the bill, it was thousands of dollars more because she asked for other kinds of repairs on the car.
He finally asked her to leave, but she and her friend must have stalked him through Facebook, because he eventually shut the account down.
I'm just thinking, he had to have known that it was not a relationship based on true emotions. And I wonder, wow, are they really stupid? Or are they being led by something that is more desperate and sinister?
