nazi sympathizers, right wing radicals and skinheads and sent them to maximum security gulags in Iraq. Her justification? They MIGHT be a threat to our security and Democracy.
The heads of the right wing media would all simultaneously explode onto the screens of millions of sheeple. The magat party would immediately set up impeachment proceedings and every last one of them would book at trip to the prison for their photo op with the "wrongly" incarcerated.
Now, do you see the hypocrisy?

(60,210 posts)We know how they reacted to the arrests, trials, and convictions of people WHO ACTUALLY BROKE LAWS ON JANUARY 6th. We know Trump, among others, called them persecuted and patriots. You could also look back to the FBI under Obama identifying white supremacists as a threat that needed to be watched and the large negative response by Republicans for even a suggestion that surveillance, not sending to jail with no due process, should be done.
Your scenario, which parallels what the Trump administration is doing is what Trump et al claim did happen. This is why Trump constantly refers to retribution. Now, you spoke of this scenario as something completely outlandish. In fact, had it happened, protests would not be limited to Republicans. I could see many organizations, like the ACLU filing suit. This points out a second difference our side, thankfully, would not be silent with a Democratic president doing similar things.

(155 posts)...same people that had been convicted of beating police officers and attacking our nation's capital building...or that she had the temerity to sit down behind the Resolute Desk thinking she had been duly elected...or she wore a tan pantsuit...or she violated the Emoluments Clause even once...
We aren't dealing with mere hypocrisy; but hypocrisy on an industrial scale--strip mining level hypocrisy that tears our democracy apart and pushes the rubble down upon anyone that does not happen to be privileged enough to live on top of the hill.
