Papers, please.

A post on facebook.

So here we are. 2025. And a federal judge is being grilled like a goddamn criminal while stepping off a passenger train in Havre, Montana, because two dudes in desert camo with “ICE” stitched on their chests decided to play “Show Me Your Papers”—on U.S. soil, with no probable cause, and no legal warrant. You know, just your casual, everyday paramilitary checkpoint at a train stop in America. Totally normal.
Larry Baer, an attorney and tribal court judge—mind you, a judge—goes to stretch his legs during a routine Amtrak stop and boom: he’s face-to-face with the soft boot of authoritarianism. No explanation. No legal justification. Just a demand for citizenship confirmation, verbal only if you look like him. Because, let’s be honest, we all know damn well if Baer had a deeper tan or a Spanish accent, they’d be rifling through his bags, pressing him against the train, and asking why his great-great-grandma didn’t speak English.
And these ICE goons weren’t subtle either—desert camo. Not police blues. Not federal polos. Freakin’ combat uniforms. Like they’re about to raid a cartel compound and not, you know, harass a bunch of elderly train passengers on their way through the Hi-Line.
And get this: ICE denies it was them. They pass the buck to Customs and Border Protection. CBP’s response? “We’re checking into it.” What the hell does that even mean? You’re the guys with the guns on the train! Don’t you know what your agents are doing? Or are you just hoping the public forgets by the time you finish your internal game of hot potato?

These little moments in our nation are profoundly important. We need to notice them and address them.

We all just had a talk last night cautioning discussing this incident, about the lady deplaning in Miami who was questioned, and about the 2 German girls in Hawaii. I'm thinking this will be our last family trip for awhile unless it's driving or camping. We all have Real IDs, but hubby nor I have never had a passport. We're fixing that though I expect it will take much longer now with all the personnel cuts they've made.

Getting a new one might take a bit longer. I think the estimate they give now is 6 to 11 weeks. Good idea to get passports.

It’s valid for travel between Mexico and Canada. It’s the size of a drivers license or credit card so easy to fit in a wallet. I keep mine at all times.

Habeas Corpus is a bit of a threatened right currently.

I’m not about to FAFO. They have force. I don’t.

They'll find their cause, like an attractive blonde girl who was taken across the country and killed.
Or they'll say it's to stop fentanyl trafficking, or something MS13 is doing. They're close now with court approved DUI checkpoints.

All they need is their 9/11.

have DUI checkpoints..............and they are laughable..........

They are 100% of the time, in the poorer, lower class areas. Never Exiting a Bronco game for instance, or streets/highways in the upper class neighborhoods.......

Same as ICE citizenship raids anywhere near a meat packing corporation, any building construction area, any agri-business, or better yet, placed at the entrance/exits of gated communities.......

snip......

He said he has been riding the train for decades and he has never seen federal officers come on the train to ask if people are citizens.

He said a conductor on the train Sunday told him that in the conductor's 40 years, he has never seen anything like it.

Roberts said Baer's story is very concerning.

"It really is a very serious issue," she said. "I never thought that I would see what I have seen occur in our country today, and as a member of the judicial branch, I'm highly concerned with what I see."

We live in an era where masses of people come and go across a hostile planet, desolate and violent. Refugees, emigrants, exiles, deportees. We are a tragic contingent.
