Laura Loomer wants you to snitch on your immigrant neighbors

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/laura-loomer-maga-vigilante-immigrants-kristi-noem-rcna201646

Late last month, Laura Loomer — a prominent MAGA influencer who in 2017 called herself “pro-white nationalism” — invited Jacob Engels, a Proud Boys associate and writer for the conspiracy theory-pushing blog Gateway Pundit, to her podcast to discuss a new app that would help people they see as true patriots deport their neighbors — and get paid for it.

“It’s called IceRaid.US,” Engels said, explaining how users could snap photos of “illegal aliens.” The app apparently then sends the photos, including the metadata identifying where and when they were taken, to law enforcement. “This is really really interesting because it’s taking so much off the backs of law enforcement … and we’re doing it as citizens, and you have the opportunity to earn crypto for reporting and deporting illegals.”

Loomer — one of President Donald Trump's close confidants — was thrilled. “If you’re sick and tired of the illegal alien construction workers making a bunch of noise at the house next door to yours, you can actually call it in!” she said. “Get that cryptocurrency for reporting these individuals. It’s almost like a bounty.”

It’s unclear how functional IceRaid.US — created by a relatively unknown cryptocurrency entrepreneur named Jason Meyers — really is, or to what degree it’s actually coordinating with law enforcement. (Meyers and representatives from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not respond to requests for comment.)

("making a bunch of noise at the house next door" ) so the workers get deported and your neighbor's roof doesn't get fixed? What about when your roof needs repairing and your workers get ratted out by your neighbor whose roof remains unfixed because you ratted out his workers?

Damn, these people are both evil and stupid.

take work from me, a legitimate contractor, born and raised in the USA, indeed I will rat them out! Not only are Republicans out of touch with reality some Democrats are as well.

If you think for one minute the undocumented are the only people working in construction and lawn care, you've bumped your head.

Whoever is working on my neighbor's roof is none of my business. And I'll be damned if I'm going to be responsible for ICE shipping off some poor slob to that gulag in El Salvador, probably for the rest of his (short) life. Fuck that.

of others, I might consider a different line of work. I appreciate that competition from undocumented workers is a real problem, but it's not a problem that can be solved by Loomer's Nazi-ish tactics. Gotta draw the line somewhere. I refuse to contribute to the persecution of immigrants, documented or otherwise.

working on your neighbor's roof 'just in case' there might be an undocumented worker there, is exactly what the fascists want.

Sow division, erode rights, make people nervous and scared. Divide and set us against one another. That is not the battle. And you're falling for it?

Preventing this starts at the hiring level.

In Denver I’m fairly confident most non whites have some kind of legal status if not just citizenship. That is a requirement for employers. In any case I don’t care. I do see your point but contractors are at fault here, not the workers, but they face detention even with legal status.
It’s evil to call iCE on people working on the roof next door.

You would have to not be working at the full hours you wanted, then know that they were hired after your hours went down. Things that would be really hard to know. Do you work for a contracting company? If maybe you think your contracting company would have gotten more work if not for them then you would have to know that they did not employ any citizens at all another thing that would be almost impossible to know.

If the only requirement is to take a pic and the app does the rest of the dirty work for you, then we could just as easily take your pic and have you deported.

You guys never think things through.

...and this "older" couple was following us following us around the store. I'm American, white as hell, but I'm fluent in Spanish and my wife is from Spain. When we're out and about, we mostly speak Spanish. I was low-key begging for either of them to say something, and had planned on what I was going to say (It wouldn't have been very nice), and how I would say it (It would not have been quiet). They ultimately didn't say anything, or confront us. And to be honest, what they did was way worse. Just stalking us. Next time, I will probably not wait and will confront them myself. But, I tend to be reserved in situations like that because my wife does not like to be confontational.
