Marriotts CEO spoke out about DEI. The next day, he had 40,000 emails from his associates

Capuanos message was simple, but it didnt go unnoticed by associates. He was overwhelmed by how his employees responded.
Within 24 hours, I had 40,000 emails from Marriott associates around the world, saying thank you, he said. Many expressed appreciation to work for a company whose values aligned with their own.
Marriott is among Fortunes Best Companies to Work For that are sticking up for DEI policies right now. Others on the list include Delta and Cisco.

My favorite hotel in Europe is a Marriott, namely the one in Brussels.
They have changed managers only a few times in 20 years, and the international staff is among the best I know of at any hotel. There are Latin Americans, at least one Turk, a Latvian, a Greek, two (count'em!) Belgians, a few Italians, an Italian-speaking Algerian at the omelet counter at breakfast, and a few fabulous Filipinos that I practically count as family. They must treat their employees well, because in 20 years there has been extremely little turnover. It is not a 5 star place or super swank by any means, but they are clean, efficient, and take care of their guests like no other place I have ever stayed. A hotel is finally only as good as the people who run it, and this place is REALLY well-run!

(57,824 posts)But just for my stays at the Brussels Marriott alone, they gave me platinum for life for the whole Marriott chain. This has counted for more complimentary meals than I can count.
