Rep. Dan Goldman explained how due process works to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Warning, offensive content within.

(2,353 posts)I am going to strongly object to the platforming of Representative Green here or on TYT.
Half of the video is Green going on and on with no pushback or fact checking.

(19,174 posts)that would say "offensive content within"?

(2,353 posts)The endless coverage of Trump here is baffling. People are grifting off of the crisis and I don't think we should be supporting that. "Look at what Trump said today!!!" News about that the administration is doing, yes, but presenting their propaganda spiels verbatim - with little or no analysis or fact checking - here every day, no.
MAGA is beating us badly in the information war, and a big reason for that is the amount of unfiltered attention we give them.
The average less than well informed person watching that video would see Green getting the last word and making the more compelling (easier to understand and relate to) argument. they would see Goldman droning on about some obscure legalism, something called "due process," while Green is defending us from horrible dangerous terrorists.
Of course Goldman is right, of source Green is lying. So what? Is anyone surprised about that?

(20,331 posts)Yes, I listened to her because I wanted to find out what she was on about, and I actually found it rather interesting. I don't mind listening to Marge now and then, because I find it interesting to see just how her twisted little mind works.
In this case, she went on and on and on about the importance of "transparency." I found that quite ironic considering that she is evidently quite comfortable with the gross lack of transparency in the Schlump administration's current policy of kidnapping people off the streets (many of whom are here 100% legally) and spiriting them off to parts unknown without even telling them why, much less allowing them to communicate with their families or a lawyer. I suspect Ms. Greene only wants transparency for those she personally deems worthy of it.
It's true there was no fact checking in this clip, but it was taken from a presumably much longer committee hearing, and that's the way these things go. Happiily, it does finish with rejoinder from Goldman about what Greene got wrong. If you really can't stand listening to Marge (believe me, I understand), you can skip her and hear his very well-reasoned response to her by moving the slider over to about 8:30 or so. Happy viewing!

(1,366 posts)About how under Trump there has been an astounding 700% increase in catching "terrorists" at the border. Not because they're actually capturing people who plan to engage on terror attacks in the US. But only because they've adopted the Trump administration talking point that all illegal immigrants are terrorists now.
