President Donald Trump has granted a full and unconditional pardon to Michele Fiore, the former Las Vegas councilwoman found guilty of defrauding donors who believed they were giving money for a statue to honor a fallen Las Vegas police officer.
Fiore was found guilty of conspiracy and wire fraud charges by a federal jury in October. Federal prosecutors accused Fiore of raising tens of thousands of dollars through a charity and political action committee for a statue honoring Metropolitan Police Department officer Alyn Beck, who was shot and killed with his partner in 2014.
Prosecutors said Fiore spent the donations on rent, plastic surgery and payments on her daughters wedding. On Thursday, Fiores defense attorneys filed a motion to vacate her May 14 sentencing, and included a copy of Wednesdays order from Trump, pardoning Fiore.

(4,677 posts)A jury found Fiore guilty of six counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in October 2024, for using money that was intended to go toward the construction of a statue honoring a fallen police officer for personal gain. Prosecutors said Fiore used the money on plastic surgery, rent and her daughters wedding.
Each count could have carried up to 20 years in prison, and Fiores sentencing was set for May 14. Her lawyers, on Thursday, filed a motion to vacate the sentencing date, citing the presidents pardon.

(4,771 posts)NOT state charges so that is why Trump could pardon her. She arguably should be spending the rest of her life in jail. She was convicted of 6 counts and each count carries a sentence of up to 20 years.
