Trump Faces New Impeachment Problems
Story by Stephen Silver 7h 4 min read
A local political party does not, under the Constitution, have the power to impeach the president of the United States. But that doesnt mean theyre not going to try.
The Libertarian Party of Travis County, Tex., has passed a resolution calling for the impeachment and removal from office of President Donald Trump.
As posted on the partys Facebook page, resolution lists several whereas examples, most of them related to the presidents deportations, including the administrations failure to retrieve Kilmar Abrego Garcia from a prison in El Salvador, despite court rulings.
Whereas, President Donald J. Trump took an oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, with no obvious intention of doing so, the post concludes, Therefore, be it resolved, that the Libertarian Party of Travis County calls for the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump and his removal from office.

(822 posts)I think that it is important to note that there are now many Conservatives on the Right who are with us against Trump. Robert Reich just wrote a good article on this a couple of days ago on the Substack platform (The title is "The View From The Right". I do not have an immediate link). Conservative commentators like David Brooks and Andrew Sullivan have come out with editorials and statements against Trump. We may not agree with all of their positions, but we can agree that we are in favor of Democracy and the Constitution and that we are against Trump and Dictatorship. Brooks recently wrote an article in the New York Times calling for a National Civic Uprising. You know Trump is bad when he can bring some Conservatives and Progressives together in the same cause: stopping Trump.
