Former commissioner Jessup given 6- to 15-year prison term for sexual assault on daughter in Las Vegas
He just happens to be a republican! 
Dressed in a blue shirt and pair of jeans, former Hancock County Commissioner and Councilman John D. Jessup was taken out of a Las Vegas courtroom by law enforcement in handcuffs Thursday morning. The action came after he was given a six- to 15-year prison term for the sexual assault of his daughter in January 2024.
Judicial officer Joe Hardy not only sentenced Jessup, 50, of Shirley to multiple years behind bars, but also told Jessup once he’s out of prison he’ll have to register as a sex offender. Officials in Las Vegas tell the Daily Reporter Jessup must serve at least six years of the term.
Just a day before the sentencing hearing, Rachel Jessup noted she had been adopted by her stepfather and would no longer be using the last name Jessup. She referred to herself in court as Rachel Keesling.
