Finding true love on the Normandy Landing site-from Bluesky

"Nearly 20 years ago today I met George & Iris Lavis. They met on the Normandy invasion beaches. She landed a week after D-day, one of 12 women aboard a landing craft.
He waved her ashore & shouted "what are they sending bloody women for when we need ammunition & supplies!"

Then they fell in love"

From the medals on their chests they were a well matched pair of authentic badasses.
