The Wall Street Journal recently reported that DOGE staffers across multiple federal agencies whose jobs have mostly consisted of singling out probationary federal workers for mass layoffs are now in fear of losing their own employment given their ties to Musk. According to the Journal, the White House is defending DOGE's mass firings, though one former staffer who previously worked for Musk's quasi-agency expressed fear that DOGE itself may soon crumble.
"I worry with Elon gone, no one will join, and it will just slowly fade away," software engineer Sahil Lavinigia told the Journal, adding that his work "felt like pushing a boulder up a mountain."
After the Trump-Musk spat reached a fever pitch on Thursday with Musk calling on Congress to "KILL the BILL" (in reference to the massive budget bill currently being debated in the Senate) DOGE staffers were reportedly texting each other frantically wondering whether their jobs would be next on the chopping block. That news prompted Amazon Web Services senior software development engineer Alex Wood to post to Bluesky: "Its a shame that they cut research funding because even with recent advances we still dont have a violin small enough for this."

(12,649 posts)They are not there to do real jobs. They are there to fire people for being female or a minority and to siphon up as much of our private data as possible. I still find it hard to believe that the Supreme Court gave these people the right to have our private Social Security data to use any way they want. These people are dishonest or they would not be in these jobs. They can now download it, sell it, use it for financial scams, cheat SS recipients out of their benefits, whatever. Thats fine with our Trump-loving SC.

(25,379 posts)be seen as heartless, but this case is unique, an unelected POS, appointed by djt to no legitimate office or position, gets to come in, along w/ his jury rigged crew, and unilaterally fire people right and left, w/ no long term planning, no worrying about the positions that were being left vacant, some of which these important positions that needed to have a critical body in them to get critical stuff done.
Why don't they sue muskrat, after all, he's the one that put them in that position (and of course they were dumb enough to heed his siren calls to join his crusade against 'wasteful government spending').
I hope that this follows these people around for the rest of their lives, for being dumb enough to fall for muskrat's promises and tRUMP's stupid on/off promises, TACO, that is.
