🇺🇲I am planning a brunch before the No Kings march on Saturday to get a large group to it. Folks come to my place and I provide brunch, then we bus downtown. We make signs at my place too. I have been doin g this since 2016 and it has been great to get others participating who likely wouldn't on their own. This year, after watching what is going on in L.A., and heeding the words of my father who was in Vietnam, I am adding providing small American flags to the list of items I provide to my group. I wondered, what if folks in DU who were going to protest also bought large packs of small American flags (online or at party stores) and handed those out at each protest. Many people wouldn't want them, but a lot would. Think of the optics!

(3,143 posts)Saw this at first Hands Off. Someone had a bunch of 12" by 17" US flags. You could hold a sign and a flag.

Frankly, we should turn the tables on them across the board. Reclaim all the star-spangled words and symbols, and equate them with the Soviets. They freely call us communists and related things, so turnabout is fair play. Use their own trigger words against them.
After all, what was "the Red Menace"? That a bunch of radicals would upend our way of life, tear us down to remake us according to their own vision of "the way things ought to be", subvert our freedoms, and take away everything we worked our lives to build.
It used to be communists waving red flags. Now it's Trumpniks wearing red hats.
In Washington on the 14th, it won't be a military parade, it'll be a Soviet parade. That's what it's modeled after, so call a spade a spade.
