is a militia group that is only under the command of the governor. They would normally assist the California National Guard when needed, however, in this case, my thinking is that Newsom could put them to use defending California residents from whatever unconstitutional actions are taken by the Federal forces.

The Army doesn't handle logistics on a "well, here ya go!" basis. They give your unit some money and you have to buy all the things you need out of it. If that fucking idiot didn't give them any more money for this mission, as you can figure that he didn't, they can't buy MREs.

George Wallace gave a speech that led to a small riot in Omaha before the Nebraska primary that year. The National Guard was activated, but rather than deploying to the riot area, we were sent to the then Omaha Civic Auditorium, where the convoy of trucks was parked in the basement. This was about 2 miles from the riot area. We never did deploy, so we spent the night mingling with the trucks and sleeping on the concrete floor. No food, no water, no sleeping gear nor pillow. As I recall, we were woke up around 6:30AM and transported to the Ak-Sar-Ben grounds, where we were served breakfast, went back to our unit, where we were discharged, sent home to change clothes, and then went to work. I remember calling my boss that I would be a little late getting to the office. We were not called up again the next night. This screw-up doesn't surprise me - been there, done that.
