Austria school shooting: ten dead and 28 injured in Graz

Ten people have been killed in a mass shooting at a school in the Austrian city of Graz. Several students and at least one adult, as well as the suspected shooter, were among the dead, mayor Elke Kahr confirmed to Austrian press agency APA.

As well as the fatalities, 28 injured people are currently being treated in hospitals. Kronen Zeitung reported. At least four of them are in extremely critical condition. Some victims were reportedly shot in the head.

According to the newspaper, the attacker fired shots in two classrooms and was later found dead in one of the bathrooms. The building is still being searched.

Citing local police, the Austrian state media provider ORF said students and teachers were among the injured. A major police operation has been under way at the BORG Dreierschützengasse school since about 10am. Local media reported that the incident was being treated as a possible shooting.
