Forgive me if this is a duplicate, the video is about a month old and based on similar info that has floated around for years. I watched it yesterday and was reminded why this theory proposed in several forms by a variety of people in different disciplines makes so much sense to me. Doesn't help heal divides, but does put some of our differences into interesting context. And explain why I've largely felt like a fish out of water in most of the places I've lived. Even the "nation" I was born in - to a family that has been there since colonial times.

(110,171 posts)They clearly don't understand the distinct differences and political discrepancies of that region--especially Colorado and New Mexico. And to carve off THAT MUCH of central and eastern WA, OR, CA is silly and again reflects a simplicity of understanding.
So, I call bullshit.. If it corrects that at the end or middle of the video, great. Let me know, but I'm not able to watch.

(50,788 posts)This is known as the Quebec Diaspora. He also completely missed the German migration that began in colonial times and spread across the midwest for the next 200 years, lots of farmers there. And the Swedes in Minnesota and NJ. And NJ is more NY than it is Virginia. And the Irish are all over - Boston, NYC, TN, SC. We've missed the Scottish and there sure is no DEI mentioned in the first part of this video. His constructs barely fit the amalgamation in my opinion.
He paints with a broad brush, iow.
