A major line of questioning for Democrats in Congress to
pursue regarding ICE-American Gestapo and CBP is have they been using "contractors" in their enforcement personnel or "deputizing" additional personnel and what the system of vetting these personnel has been and where they are coming from. We are seeing pictures of a very mixed gaggle of goons showing up on these "raids". The variance in dress and equipment clearly shows some people outfitted very differently than others. So the idea that they are all from one agency is not plausible and the extremely casual dress, masking etc. of some of them leads to a strong suspicion that those people aren't agency employees but rather "outside personnel" from a "contractor" or some other non-governmental civilian status. Especially the ones without insignias, badges etc. like the ones that just have a vest on that says "POLICE".
I sense a strong likelihood that current and former "security contractors" for the military are being used to shore up what several months ago had been described as being a "staffing shortage". I also have little doubt that groups like the Oaf Creepers and the Proud Boys may well be involved also. Their members who are ex-military or have worked for a "contractor" for the military would be likely personnel DHS would look to recruit or have available to "deputize" for the needs of CBP and ICE-American Gestapo.
The importance should be obvious since the use of "contractors" by the military is not without example of paid goons going off and becoming deadly to people without provocation as in Iraq. If and when a violent incident happens, more likely when than if, here Congress needs to know how do we identify and hold responsible the person(s) involved and not have them slip into the shadows because everybody claims they don't know or have record of who this was? What immunity guarantees are being given by DHS to CBP, ICE-American Gestapo and any of these "outside" people?
Democrats in Congress also need to see the contracts for these people to see what the terms in those contracts are. I'm sure DHS will refuse on privacy grounds but they can redact personally identifiable information and still provide the contracts so that Congress can do oversight of the contracting process and terms.
