to develop and deploy their own nuclear weapons.

North Korea has Nukes. Uncle Sam treads carefully with them.

Iraq didn’t have nukes. They got invaded.

Iran lacks nuclear weapons. They just got bombed.

Maybe not. Drones are a big thing now. Dont need a navy or air force to blow up things. The straight of Hormus is a curious thing and Iran has quite a few drones. Pretty good at them also. Couple of drones a couple of oil ships, things get bad. What our world if based on is way more fragile than most people know. That would be the 1 level of events if I was them. Stop the oil. After that,,,,

with US ground troops in Iran--- although that was the 'next objective' of the neocons who forced the Iraq war....
which went so badly that they never got around to trying it in Iran--
(although John McCain, in his 2008 campaign, sang "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran", not his best moment)

Trump et al are keeping those U.S. troops in reserve, in case they decide they will need them to suppress their own people....

Now extremely ironic, the first Republican President Abraham Lincoln once said,
"One war at a time."
