How far we've deteriorated as a country

In roughly April of 2007, John McCain made the infamous Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran song reference in a manner that made clear that there were questions as to his fitness to serve as C.I.C.
I don't believe it cost him the election, W took care of that, but it raised serious questions. Look at us 18 years 2 months later and how much we've deteriorated as a country in that we actually elected a man to become C.I.C. not once, but twice who under any reasonable measure couldn't hold a candle to a man we said shouldn't be in the White House.
I guess it would only be right for the next candidate for president to borrow a song from Bruce Springsteen change a few words and belt them out for the world to hear.
