Israel attacking government sites in Iran as Trump floats regime change

Israel said it is carrying out attacks on Iranian government sites and “regime targets” —including the notorious Evin Prison — as President Trump muses publicly about regime change in Tehran.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a social media post at noon local time on Monday that Israeli forces are “currently striking with unprecedented force regime targets and governmental oppression entities in the heart of Tehran,” according to an English translation of the Hebrew statement.

He said those targets include the headquarters of Basij, the paramilitary volunteer militia within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); Evin Prison, used to incarcerate political prisoners and opponents of Iran’s leadership; and the “Destroy Israel” clock in Palestine Square.

Katz said the attacks are also striking “additional regime targets,” including internal security headquarters of the Revolutionary Guards and the ideology headquarters.

6. A regime change from a brutal

repressive ultra-religious autocracy responsible for proliferation of terrorism throughout the region and beyond and responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths including its own citizens... is a bad thing?

Tell me how thousands of Iranians risking their lives and protesting this regime are carrying out Israel's hidden agenda.

2. Some in Iran may want the Ayatollah to be deposed, but they could get an even worse leader.

Any new leader that would be supported by Trump and US interests would be an authoritarian swearing loyalty to Trump, not the people of Iran—someone more like the brutal Shah of Iran and his Savak than an effective leader working for the rights of the people.

3. A brutal but compliant puppet would suit the US and Israel just fine.

A right-wing authoritarian willing to let Iran become a beggared U.S. client state with its oil and resources handed over to Big Oil and Western interests. Nuclear-armed Israel can then have full hegemony over the ME and the Palestinians would be erased while Israel expands towards Greater Israel.

I know I'm jaded but I've seen this movie before. We all have. While some have no problem with the plot or the ending, I do.

Not a peep of condemnation from the self-appointed "humanitarians".
