Pledging to raise "national defense spending" to 5% of GDP is Trump's gift to the military industrial complex (MIC)

It definitely ensures that less of a nation's resources will be spent on uplifting the well-being of its citizens. We fail to realize that (and prove that we don't care about the social health of a nation) how such an increase will affect the citizens and standard of living of a country with lower GDP than ours. Trump is sitting on his throne as a result of dropping the world's most dangerous weapon on a country alleged by Israel, alone, to have a nuke ready to drop on the world in weeks, if not days. The US, a once great nation fighting for PEACE and DEMOCRACY has now become the most dangerous terrorist nation on earth by thanks to our unfettered an irrational support of a renegade nation that uses our national religion as the bait to spend our resources and lives to protect it. The US used to be the hope of the world for demonstrating how peace and democracy can foster a world which peace and prosperity and justice and compassion, and law and order ruled the day. Now, the US, especially under Trump administrations, is the role model for greed, corruption, crime, authoritarianism, deceit, and destruction and brutality. Trashing democracy for the obsession of seeking a Nobel Peace Prize by inflaming war by supporting the outsized egos and genocidal behavior of the corrupt madmen leading Israel is leading the world into an abyss of more decades of fomenting conflict, building more and more weapons for national and international death and destruction. The momentary high of dropping a big bomb on an essentially lesser enemy will fade when the all the neglected chickens come home to roost.

Bibi gets away with faulty security on Oct. 6 and failure to secure the release of hostages
Trump gets away with more lawlessness and disregard for the US Constitution as he and his GOP cult disregard their own laws and security
The thread of life for Ukraine gets shredded even more
Putin enjoys the increasing speed of the demise of the US and it's "democracy"
China and Japan wait patiently

No problems with the 5% goal… I think NATO has percentage requirements. The world is a dangerous place. Still…

I just really wish we beat him to the punch, and it wasn’t the orange looney pushing it.
