Once again, tell me about earlier cancelled elections in this country.

Plus, do you REALLY expect every one of the 50 states would go along with that? You do? Based on what.

Again, the prospect of a cancelled election is a perennial trope here on DU. Elections won't be cancelled. If for no other reason than lots and lots of things and people are elected, not just the President.

We are not as unique as we'd like to believe we are. There are so many things that I would have never thought possible in the U.S. until recent years. Now I am prepared for anything.

As someone else mentioned, they've cancelled elections in Miami. Though hardly nationwide, that is how such changes start, on a state or local level.

I'm not saying there will be cancelled elections. Personally, I think republicans are more inclined to just cheat, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw cancelled elections due to some fabricated national emergency. Trump has implied that before.

Rather than leap to the maximalist position on the 2026 mid-terms (and with this basket of deplorables nothing surprises me) I think a simpler explanation is the fact that the Medicaid cuts don't kick in until after the 2026 election. I can see Fox running pieces interviewing people on Medicaid before that time and pooh-poohing the Democrats as fear mongers because everything is ok.

He *might* try to prevent it, but a midnight rant on "Truth" Social won't do it---
and even if he tried to deploy the military to all 50 states to stop elections,

and, such an action would effectively initiate civil war,

which may be quite true

while the rest of the choir sings about how great their 'beautiful bill' is for America....

If Trump and the GQP politicians actually tried to go way over the red line
of "cancelling the elections", I believe that a fair number of them
would have a very rude awakening while looking at a great big O pointed at them,
and some of those O's would be wielded by those who had previously been their own supporters

possibly some "red states" might bow down and cancel their elections,
but the blue states will not--- in such a scenario, we win the election...

and if we have to march on Washington DC to enforce the will of the voters,
ala "J6"--- in that instance, we will have RIGHT and NUMBERS
on our side!

Unlikely based on the relatively tepid response to the ICE abductions, assaults on Democratic politicians, pervasive corruption, and abandonment of the Rule of Law, the MAGATS and their Orange Messiah are projecting a self-assurance that the general public lacks the appetite for such actions and confident that any resistance would be futile, especially with the extent of the 'security' force that they're amassing.

What exactly HAS NOT happened yet on the Project 2025 agenda that would give ANYONE confidence that the midterms will happen and will be fair?

People who scoff at the very valid and real concern over this issue are either foolish, ignorant or simply not paying attention. We seem to have a few posters on DU who are hell-bent on insisting that things will continue as "normal". Well, "normal" went out the window a long, fucking time ago where Trump is concerned. I've seen nothing stopping him from doing what he damn well pleases, and I live in reality.

These posters remind me of the ones on DU who chastised the rest of us consistently to "give Garland more time". Well, four years later, we see where that got us.

So, don't bother telling me I'm worrying too much, I'm fearmongering, or I'm wrong. You won't change my mind. Because no one knows for sure until we get to the midterms, but something is obviously going on.

Even if we got enough people off their asses, we won't win against the military. I used to think the rank and file members wouldn't face off against their family and friends, but after seeing stuff the last couple of decades, I no longer believe that.

The Project 2025 folks have spent decades infiltrating everything. Police, military, education, local governments. It was a long, drawn-out plan to make any opposition fail. Some of us tried to warn others, to make sure we put up good people to win and maybe thwart these plans, but it has been in vain. The politicians know where their money comes from. They take it gladly, and to hell with the rest of us. Just peons in some fantasy medieval video game. Welcome to the future, it won't be good for us.

Americans are, in general, ignorant cowards. Its not our fault to be fair. We have literally been trained since birth to be this way. We are told since childhood to not question authority, obey the rules and do as we are told.
We are trained to sit in a desk, face forward and obey authority for 8 hours a day for 12 years.

To do what?

sit in a desk, face forward and obey authority for 8 hours a day for 40+ years

So that then, for about an average of 5-7 years of retirement you can do a little of what you want but many adventures are way beyond most people due to age and declining health and limited income.

I have participated in many Indivisible calls. Many have raised the question about lack of confidence in the 2026 elections. Same with writing our congress people. It makes no sense to carry through on such unpopular legislation unless you knew the election will not matter. BLUF: it’s not just you.

58. Their voters vote for them no matter what, isn't even a remote possibility of voting for Democrats for most.

It's a religion, their identity. May as well ask them if they'd vote for Satan. Legislation is written by right-wing think tanks and organizations funded with obscene amounts of money, Republicans don't have to govern or do anything at all. The actual public has nothing to do with it. Democrats have nothing to do with it. Another reason why Both Sides is so incredibly stupid.

Than us. Republicans may say a lot of things and some may seem to agree with us but in the end when it comes to voting they always vote R.

It's because illegals vote for them. So they are also SURE that once they are all gone, Dems will lose every election.

It's all part of their replacement theory. That we bring in or allow in so many immigrants is for control of the vote.
