What's behind the "Eat the Rich" revival.

https://fisherald.com/the-provocative-force-of-eat-the-rich/

It needs to be said that there’s no such thing as an ethical billionaire; as seen from Bezos’ abuse of influence during the pandemic, there’s a crime behind every great fortune. Hence, ‘eat the rich’.
It’s expected that every saying will become slightly distorted as it’s reverberated over and over again, especially on social media. It’s a lesson we all learned when playing the game ‘Telephone’ as children. Nevertheless, despite misinterpretation, the ‘Eat the Rich’ movement still fulfills its age-old purpose: drawing attention to drastic disparities between social classes.

Lets draw attention to it.....

1. Confusing messaging that's easily exploited by the right is nothing new

It didn't start with defund the police and LatinX.

Eat the Rich requires just enough explaining to make just enough people in the middle confused, just enough people on the left arrogant and just enough on the right emboldened to fuck up an issue the left should naturally win on. Like it's designed in a lab to do that but is probably just natural selection..just enough people in all camps do their part

In this case wealth inequality

2. I agree some of our messaging lends itself to equivocation that the right takes advantage of

But the right seems to be able to overpower most messaging through its unified chorus. Diversity, equity, inclusion? Woke? Unions? Damn our bleeding hearts we even think people are as unique as snowflakes. They are even so good at it that they can make those to the left of their message preoccupy themselves with loathing for those that try to use the terms positively. It’s almost like we have been played to hate the word “liberal”. When in doubt blame the people to the left of you is an American tradition.

don't eat the rich, that's a waste. compost the rich, use the fertilizer to feed far more people than 1 carcass could. turn their bones into spears, continue the revolution!

4. Hard to get all of that on a readable bumper sticker.

A great bumper sticker I saw here in Michigan. It was a simple message about Betsy DeVoss without mentioning her name.

Amway Is Not My Way.
