I’ve been following a Michigan State representative named Mai Xiong for quite a while now. She’s an Hmong refugee who has moved up from community offices in Warren (near Detroit) to winning her State Rep election. She’s an active and outspoken woman with a compelling story. Mai Xiong has become a lightning rod for Michigan’s Republican speaker, and now Betsy DeVos has thrown her millions in against her. She’s been the target of vicious attacks.

Mai is my adopted candidate for this election cycle. I’ve just signed up for a $50 a month donation (my first ever) and I’m working to publicize her here. I see her as Michigan’s AOC. Check out her video that lays out what they’re doing to silence her.
