Only the San Antonio Weather Service WARNED Everyone
And Texas State and Local officials FAILED to act AFTER Weather Service issued
its dire warnings
âSir, there are families who deserve better than that.â

If you want to know why these ass-eating idiots were caught, "off guard" by a storm that the NWS had issued several warnings about, realize that they were all too busy maxing their credit cards out on fireworks and brisket for the 4th.
Now they're scrambling to blame someone other than themselves.

(14,160 posts)Between the DOGE-triggered weather staffing cuts and the incompetent local officials, I am surprised the death toll isn't higher.

(2,145 posts)There would have been a much less tragic result had TX not allowed camps to house children in known flood zones.
Many of the cabins at Camp Mysic were sitting in a 100 year flood zone. Meaning that in any given year there was a 1% chance of them being flooded. If that flood were to come at night during a camp session....like it did on Friday....then the campers could be swept away before anyone knew what was going on. And that happened.
Had they been forced to relocate those cabins to higher ground, which is available on that property, they would have been much safer. And not only did they not do that, they decided to also house the youngest girls in the cabins at greatest risk.
Why is Texas allowing commercially operated facilities to house children in high risk areas?

Some in the camp headed for high ground... but not a unified effort. Communication issues?
