But remember because the place is so uninhabitable everything has to be brought in including water (probably) and all waste including human has to be trucked out. It is a money pit. The businesses supporting this monstrosity are going to make out like bandits.

$450,000,000 divide x 8 = $56,250,000 per day -
As a former construction estimator that knows
projects are typically 2/3 to 3/4 labor that would
require 562,500 @ $100 per hour divide by 8 hours
= 70,313 man hours per day

$450,000,000 divided by 365 days a year = $1,232,877 per day

Divide that by 3000 beds it's supposed to house = $411 per day per detainee.

Compare that to the average daily cost per prisoner in prisons in the US = $177

Some people are getting rich at taxpayer expense

It's honestly a money laundering operation.

They're paying to lease everything in addition to overpaying a contractor to run and manage the place.

Watch these 2 tik-tok videos if you can. Myranda Knows her stuff.

This Daily Kos article has some information on some of the contractors involved but not much on the actual costs.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2025/7/5/2331596/-Why-will-Alligator-Alcatraz-cost-450-million-a-year-to-run

Lemoine CDR Logistics and CDR Healthcare, whose owner is a significant donor to Republican political action committees, the owner confirmed his involvement but couldn't provide details due to a non-disclosure agreement. Right.

Granny's Alliance Holdings Inc has a $3.3 million contract to provide meals.

IRG Global Emergency Management has a $1.1 million contract for flight and operational support services.

SLSCO Ltd is a construction company that was also involved in building part of the border wall during Trump's first administration.

Garner Environmental Services is a disaster relief company.

Doodie Calls is a portable toilet company. Cute name.

GardaWorld is one of the world's largest security services.

Gotham LLC is a disaster logistics company.

Longview International Technological Solutions is tough to find anything out about, except for a review from somebody who said that they would never work for a company like this again.

I'm shocked that Fox actually published this editorial slamming it.

https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/swamp-games-inside-noems-controversial-alligator-alcatraz-detention-strategy
In the middle of directing the most underwhelming deportation effort in modern American history, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has now decided to play swamp games.

Literally.

Rather than investing in a durable, institutional enforcement backbone capable of sustaining President Donald Trump’s mass deportation mandate, Noem is shoveling detention funds into a pop-up project in a Florida swamp – proudly dubbed "Alligator Alcatraz." It’s not a joke. It’s an insult.

Let’s be clear: the heart of the Trump immigration agenda is mass deportation. That requires infrastructure like beds, buses and planes. And when it comes to beds, we’re talking real detention facilities and actual jails, not circus tents surrounded by reptiles.

So why is Noem building a "soft-sided" facility in an ecologically fragile mosquito pit, 45 miles from downtown Miami? Why is she seeking to sideline ICE’s institutional partners with decades of experience and instead cutting side deals with states desperate for political brownie points?
