A Texas pediatrician is out of a job after suggesting in a now-viral social media post that some Kerr County residents deserved the devastation from the weekend's flash floods because they voted for Trump, Mediaite reports.
As search and rescue operations got underway following the deadly July Fourth floods, Dr. Christina B. Propst of Houston fired off a Facebook post accusing Kerr County residents of denying climate change and voting to cut disaster-relief funding, according to the news site.
May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters, and pets be safe and dry, Propst wrote in the now-removed post, which has been shared by multiple online sources. Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.
Propsts post may have flown under the radar if it hadn't been for anonymously run right-wing account Libs of TikTok, which identified her as the poster and shared a screenshot. In a tweet, Libs of TikTok asked the doctor's employer, Blue Fish Pediatrics, if it had any comment.
The Libs of TikTok post shaming the pediatrician has garnered nearly 3.5 million views as of press time.

(639 posts)It was an appallingly stupid thing to post, especially considering her job.

(21,367 posts)But she has the right to do so without being ruined by people who dont like what she wrote.
Shutting people up is NAZI.

(21,367 posts)I don't like being around people who espouse NAZI ideas. But I don't want to be in a country where people can be shamed for saying something I don't agree with.
Nowadays goons like MAGA make life miserable for people who disagree with Trump: They are doing Trump's work. Thanks to ignorance, that is what passes for the US government today.

(639 posts)Is that nazi behavior? Because you agreed to those terms when you made an account. Was it nazi behavior when Target and Walmart don't sell swastika flags?
Unrelated, but putting it in all caps doesn't actually make your point or do anything to convince me that I'm being a nazi.

Who in the government fired the doctor?

The government allowing Libs of TikTok to exist isn't even comparable...what would be comparable would be if the employer of whomever runs Libs of TikTok decided they didn't like what they're doing and fired them. And they would be within their rights to do so.

(21,367 posts)I wrote she has the right to say what she wants or to write what she wants.

(639 posts)But just like DU has rules about supporting Democrats, and will ban people who don't, there's nothing in the first amendment about not having consequences. There's a reason it starts Congress shall make no law, not nobody will ever suffer even the slightest consequence when it comes to free speech.
