After we survive this fascist administration

Last edited Tue Jul 8, 2025, 05:04 PM - Edit history (2)

There needs to be a constitutional amendment guaranteeing Universal Healthcare with no strings attached. I don't want to hear we can't afford it B.S. The Government gave 38 billion to Elon Musk alone who then helped steal health insurance from poor people. So we could give every person in America a lot of money of the 38 billion we gave to Elon Musk and the billions we give to other oligarchs and billions of dollars in the ice budget and military spending, but poor people can't have health insurance without being enslaved to employers. This is gross.

We all benefit when health improves even if our own doesn't.

The middle-aged man caring for his elderly mother who can't afford healthcare is less able to teach the student who might find the cure for his mother's disease.

The mother who dies early is not there to help her daughter be the first in the family to go to university.

A British billion, on the other hand, is a million million. And the same applies when you move to trillion - An American trillion is a thousand billion, whereas a British trillion is a million (British) billion. At that [point we are apart by a substantial factor.

So, yes, 38 American billions divided by 347 million is in the neighbothood of 110.
If it were 38 British billions divided by 347 million, it would be more like 110,000.
To the best of my knowledge, all American federal accounting uses the American billion.

There does – but it’s not going to happen, not anytime soon.

And should we survive this fascist administration there’ll likely be another; there’s nothing stopping the next Republican president from being an authoritarian fascist thug. Indeed, Trump has created a template for authoritarianism, executive branch precedent allowing a president to abuse his power, ignore the courts, and violate the law with impunity – just as Trump was able to do.

The more inaccurate your statement will be. These things come in cycles. The pendulum will swing the other way. Whether that’s in an intact US that we now recognize remains to be seen.

More likely to have a future DEM Congress pass ACA v2.0 which pays very large subsidies up to a high income threshold FOR ALL.

but in order to do that we've got to take back the House and the Senate and hope we don't get anymore Manchin's,Sinema's or Fetterman's. So we can reform the Courts especially the Supreme Court. That's going to be hard, but it's more realistic then thinking we just leave it like it is and those right wing fascist enabling Judges are just going to change their ways.

The electoral college has to go.

Political gerrymandering has to be outlawed.

Thanks to the Supreme Court, we now have to clearly state that the President is not above the law, and that corporations aren't people; and if we have to reiterate birthright citizenship and the right of everyone in this country to due process, regardless of their immigration status, even though they're already in the 14th amendment, so be it.

The ERA has to be revived.

Evangelicals like to claim "separation of church and state" isn't in the constitution; scholars disagree, but let's put it there, just to make sure.

liberalize greatly once it's over. The exceptions seem to be those that sink into a defacto inheritable monarchy, like N. Korea, or those with an inheritable oligarchy, either business, religious, or military, that will pick the next dictator over the objections of any or all of the people.

However, those are in the minority and even they often enjoy a short period of moderation before the new thug turns sour.
