Ahead of the Cabinet meeting today, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins said she plans to replace migrant farm workers with able-bodied adults on Medicaid. Got that everyone?

(177,975 posts)Will the government provide transportation to these farms for citydwellers who need a ride? Many people on Medicaid are unable to drive themselves.
Another hare-brained idea from the TACO regime.

(25,249 posts)I wouldn't worry too much about transport. The work camps will be established quite close to larger corporate farms. Naturally, smaller farmers will still be able to contract for some slave camp slave labor, at an "appropriate" markup from what the major customers pay.

Who the fuck knew it would become reality.

(25,249 posts)The open construction of in-country gulags pretty much seals our fate. The public didn't react soon enough; now many will die in the fields, in the name of American Greatness.
2 years ago I don't think anyone except maybe Stephen Miller and his close associates would have imagined this insanity. The dark times have fallen squarely upon us now. MAGA is the new Khmer Rouge -- an Amer Rouge, if you like...

(34,569 posts)People that are not able to work, whether they are disabled or have long term health issues. That's the reason they apply for medicaid. Able bodied people do not get medicaid.

Which 34 million able-bodied people are you talking about? Name them. Where are they? How will they get to these farm jobs? How will they do the work?
There is no fucking honest media in THE MSM if they don't ask these questions!

National Security.
They are getting paid by the government and able bodied. Much more so than many medicaid recipients.

Isn't this just kicking off $0 income people?
Can't they get ACA subsidies?
Or some kind of job?
I could NOT get medicaid unemployed. Who are the people getting this without any jobs?

Are you on SSI? Have you applied for any sort of relief for a disability?

(2,838 posts)Medicaid and Snap did require employment for those under 55 years of age,
but some of those rules were suspended during the COVID crisis---
but I am over that age limit.
Now, thanks to the BBB, my medicaid and snap will be ended
at the same time that I am 64 years of age, for about 9 to 12 months until I turn 65
(meanwhile, I took early retirement on Social Security,
even though I didn't want to, I felt I had no choice,
but those benefits were part of my calculation...)
Since I now have a certain amount of Social Security income,
"getting a JOB" with their required hours
would put me over the allowable income levels
for BOTH medicare and snap--- and probably any such job I could get
would not include health insurance benefits
(since only about 46% of jobs DO include those benefits)---
and the A.C.A. subsidies?? A large amount of those will expire
at the end of this year.... so NO, I probably could not afford to buy
an ACA plan at the end of this year, either....
Sounds like you need to do some research on all this-- 2 post person. Welcome to DU!
Good luck to you.

By Republican/MAGA rules, as a female,
she should RESIGN from public office or any outside employment,
get on her back and just SHUT THE HELL UP---
"Jesus said"...
(ok, he never said that according to The Bible,
but they never read it)
