(19,922 posts)Obama reiterates conclusion of attempted Russian interference in 2016 election
WASHINGTON, July 22 (Reuters) - The office of U.S. Democratic former President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that a document issued last week by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence does not undercut the conclusion that Russia tried to influence the 2016 U.S. election but that it did not manipulate any votes.
"Nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes," Obama's office said in a statement.
President Donald Trump accused Obama of "treason" on Tuesday, blaming him, without providing evidence, for leading an effort to falsely tie him to Russia and undermine his 2016 presidential campaign.
"These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction," Obama's office said.

(219 posts)1. Of course this is meant to be a distraction from the epstein files.
2. If he does "arrest" Obama, surely he knows this would cause mass riots and protests. He would relish the idea of Obama in handcuffs.
3. Along with all the protests. Would it give him the right to claim Marshall Law? Shut down the government, stop elections?
He's not book smart, but he's conniving. I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't already thought of something for him to keep power

"These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction," the statement said.
Trump's comments come after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard submitted a criminal referral to the Department of Justice threatening the Obama administration.
Obama's spokesperson said that "nothing in the document issued last week undercuts the widely accepted conclusion that Russia worked to influence the 2016 presidential election but did not successfully manipulate any votes."
"These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intellignce Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio," the Obama spokesperson said on Tuesday.
