I know this is a months-old issue for most of you impacted by the elimination of Social Security WEP . . .

Most of the one-time catch-up payments came in March for those of us who had both a public employees retirement pension and social security payments after the WEP was retroactively eliminated effective 1/1/2024. Some of you all got big checks that were mysterious for a while - until I (and a few others) pointed out that this was the repayment for the money withheld under the windfall elimination provision. I noted at the time that my spouse's situation was complicated because they had just adjusted her monthly payments down due to an account they hadn't initially asked about - so I expected it would be a while.

They FINALLY adjusted my spouse's monthly social security! She has been shorted around $700/month for all of 2024 and the first 7 months of 2025. So soon she will get her big check, and $700 a month more going forward. Yippee! (And one more thing to take off of my to-do list . . . since in our family division of labor it is my job to chase down the money)
