Australia Post halts most parcel postage to US as tariff chaos hits global carriers

Australia Post has immediately suspended most postage to the United States, with only the delivery of letters, documents and gifts worth less than $150 continuing.

The postal service has taken the extraordinary step to halt many forms of postage to the US, as a Trump administration tariff on low-value parcels is due to come into effect within days.

Australian businesses selling to American customers will be blocked from shipping to the US via Australia Post from today.

The government-owned postal service joins other global carriers in taking this step, ahead of new levies beginning on Friday, August 29.

Thank you for this info!

I just ordered some gifts (under $100 + shipping) for my grandson on the 19th. It was the first time ordering from this Aussie store because it had eco-friendly items.

Australia Post tracking indicated this update today:
Cleared and awaiting international departure
BRISBANE QLD, AUSTRALIA • Mon 25 Aug, 3.23pm

And tonight was this notification on the website:
https://auspost.com.au/disruptions-and-updates/international-service-updates

I haven’t yet heard from the store directly about hold ups. I am following anxiously.

I hope it's not chocolate or something that can melt.

I shouldn't be flippant; this could be serious to some. At least AusPost are good about giving out updates. Best of luck LaRaven .

Just an adorable, cuddly stuffed koala and some organic tea for the grownups. I actually researched the safest and cutest stuffed koalas — naturally an Aussie company had the best. My toddler grandson chuckles when he spots one in his animal books — it makes my heart smile.

My brother was complaining the other day about a shipment from Japan that is being held up by the ending of the de minimus exemption.
