PA-07: Brooks (D) Enters Lehigh Valley Democratic Contest
In basketball, Tuesday morning’s announcement would round out the starting five.
In the race for the Democratic nomination for the 7th Congressional District, it becomes the fifth name looking to oust Rep. Ryan Mackenzie from his Lehigh Valley seat.
Bob Brooks, president of the Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association, has joined the fray along with Northampton County Executive Lamont McClure, Carol Obando-Derstine, a former staffer for Bob Casey, former federal prosecutor Ryan Crosswell, and Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley, but already has secured the support of some prominent Democratic figures.
“I’m running for Congress because Washington doesn’t give a damn about working people, and it’s time for that to change,” Brooks said in a statement. “Congressman Mackenzie hasn’t held a real job a day in his life and sells out Pennsylvania working families every chance he gets — he voted this summer to kick thousands of our neighbors off their health care.”
