About that "voter ID" executive order....

The president obviously cannot require states - where elections are managed - to require a photo ID.

But I don't think that's the point. I'm sure those around him are fully aware of this.

I think the goal might be to delegitimize future elections if he doesn't like the results.

If the Republicans get their clocks cleaned in November of 2026, Captain Combover can claim the results from certain states should be ignored because his photo ID executive order wasn't followed.

He'd be just as wrong then as he is now, but I suspect that's the underlying rationale.

They are sycophants, parasites, and they are all 3rd string JV. Miller might be the only one actually advising him and an even little Nazi turd.

I wouldn't be surprised if Republicans in Congress refuse to seat newly-elected members from states that didn't go along.

Of course he can't dictate voting policies in the states. He may or may not realize that - I don't think he's capable of realizing anything other than the possible presence of food in front of him - but those around him might try to use this to set the results of an election aside. And good luck getting the current Supreme Court to do the right thing.

And, instead of pointing out (1) he has zero authority to do what he says he is ordering and (2) the order doesn't even say what he says it says, the press is simply reporting his words.

It needs to do its job.

The level of buy-in even on DU regarding the press coverage of flag burning announcement was pretty terrifying. Virtually no one read the order. The press barely mentioned the actual content of the order. The order did not even purport to make burning the flag illegal. It merely orders the DOJ to prosecute crimes - especially crimes in which burning a flag satisfies one element of the crime (e.g. open burning is generally illegal - so the executive order would order the DOG to prosecute anyone who violates the open burning laws by burning a flag (even though it would have been just as illegal to burn a piece of paper, or a bra).

I'm sure they will mock up some order that mentions voting. He'll say he is requiring Voter ID nationwide, even though that won't be in the actual order. The press will report what he says, not what is in the order, and we'll have another day (or more) of people being outraged at the ramblings of a madman, reported by the press without any fact-checking.

If the press isn't doing it - we need to, before we start posting crap.

They'll use any excuse from Jewish Space Lasers to Soros paying illegal aliens to vote to throw up doubt.

I remember how long it took for Al Franken to be seated after he won. It was a close election and there was a recount and with how close some of the races will be, I think we are going to see this scenario on steroids.
