She just spoke to Manu Raju of CNN, and of course she wants the victims to meet with trump in the Oval Office. She is obviously, to me, trying to run interference somehow for him.
Ron Filipkowski thinks this is a big mistake and trump would use them as pawns. He thinks that they (the victims) should not allow themselves to be used by trump as he lies about the situation and calls it a "hoax.
Hope the victims and their lawyers turn him and MTG down.

(77,895 posts)MTG had been outspoken about releasing the Epstein files for some time. She said her office has heard more about this than any other issue. So she might well be running interference, pretending to do the "right thing."
Another possibility combines several factors: first, MTG is stupid, something that plays a role in her every waking moment. Second, she recognizes that after the mid-terms, the felon will be a lame fuck. Third, she anticipated the felon rewarding her with a top spot in the administration, and resents that she was ignored. She does plan to run in the 2028 republican primaries, and may be hoping to make the felon uncomfortable on the big stage, to begin to move away from his brand of maga.

(23,778 posts)as MTG, it could be hundreds of things. You're right about that. To me, the bottom line is that the victims should keep their distance from both her and trump.

(77,895 posts)The victims should be testifying publicly, to a congressional committee. The concept of having them meet with a convicted sex offender is wrong on every level.

No matter what her motive, she wants to be a spokesperson for Epsteins victims & no one else has stepped up.

(77,895 posts)I admire your contributions on this forum. Likely more than you know.
In post #30, I expressed my opinion -- based upon education and work experience -- on victims of abuse. When sexual abuse happens to girls and teens, even with the highest quality of care & support, most will have at very least periods of difficulty. In difficult times, it is very common for human beings to seek refuge in past conditions -- even terrible past conditions. This is closely related to Stockholm syndrome.

(51 posts)One of the women said she would meet with Trump in his office and discuss the need for the files to be disclosed. My guess is he would be afraid to meet with any of the women. As for MTG, I abhor the ground she walks on. I will say though that I am willing to give her some leeway here. As a woman, this might be the one area we agree on. I listened to her talk today and she sounded quite impassioned. Some of the women appeared to have formed a bond with her. If MTG ends up disappointing me, I won't be surprised or let down. I will say if she truly believes what she said and stands tall on this issue then I will stand with her on this issue only.
Because she is a woman, I won't presuppose what her intent is but will for the time being take her at her word.
