Republican Rep. Buddy Carter (Ga.) said he is introducing a resolution to “honor” President Donald Trump with the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize — a befuddling move since the award is granted by a committee whose members are chosen by the Norwegian Parliament. . .

“Listen, Donald Trump is the president of peace, and no one could have gotten us to this point that he’s gotten us to,” Carter said on Friday’s airing of Fox Business’ “Varney & Co.” . . .

“Donald Trump has done that, and I applaud him for that,” Carter told host Stuart Varney. “That’s why he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, and that’s why I’m introducing a resolution for a sense of Congress today that will honor him with the Nobel Peace Prize, and if need be, we’ll call for a discharge petition on that.”

There is still ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and while Trump did announce the start of a U.S.-brokered peace deal between Israel and Hamas, there is no guarantee of continuing peace.
