Question for doctors and nurses

I had surgery yesterday. When I was waiting in the or to be prepped, everybody was on their phones, wearing watches and jewelry. I was kinda freaked outm I imagine everyone scrubbed after I was out from the anesthesia, but it struck me as odd.
It is a highly rated hospital. Thoughts?

The folks you saw were not the ones that do the actual operating.
They were the techs, circulating nurse, and anesthesia people.
The surgeons and scrub nurses were scrubbing up, waiting for you to be prepped.
