He claims the authority to not spend what's authorized, not to spend money that isn't authorized.

With the same kind of squirrely "this is an emergency and in an emergency this law can be twisted to mean I can spend money from this bucket on activities that should be funded from that bucket" ersatz reasoning that he's not the only one to abuse in my lifetime.

All the tariff $ go into the general revenue fund. That's for Congress to authorize spending. When it gets around to it for this fiscal year.

farmers are expecting a bailout (at our expense--those damn welfare queens) of $20. I just saw this morning that we're spending another 4.5 billion on the magnificent southern border wall. We continue to offer wannabe ICE officers a $50,000 signing bonus, a 6-figure income, payment of student debt, and possibly a $40,000 year-end bonus, and unlimited overtime pay. And when President Pedo has collected (NOT) $17 trillion in tarriff income, we should all have our very own unicorn and lollipops.

The "Exchange Stabilization Fund". Currently it has $221 billion in it.

And this is a bit of an extreme example of what the fund was set up, by Congress, years ago, to do. To stabilize either the $ or US trading partners.

Sure, Trump could use it for other things, but that would ignore Congressional authorization and I'm not going to condemn Trump for doing exactly that while condemning him for exactly failing to do that. Esp. when one would be a passive violation ("failure to spend&quot while the other would be an active violation ("spending without authorization&quot .

Good morning Senator/Congressman Pedo Protector,
Let’s see . . . we’re supporting Argentina to the tune of $20 billion. Though it is framed as a loan, it is to a country with a failing currency and well-known to default on its debt. Next, we’re going to bail out farmers, again rumored to be $20 billion. But it appears that the GOP (Guardians of Pedophiles) is unwilling to negotiate in good faith with Democrats, and thus Americans continue to suffer through another day of government shutdown. When we are well aware of the criminality, corruption and sexual predilections of President Pedo, we wonder what can possibly be in the Epstein files that is worse than what is known. It appears to us that keeping the Epstein file hidden from the public is more important than the harm that is being done to our economy and masses of individuals? The question most Americans want answered is: When are you going to bail US out, particularly our healthcare coverage, premiums and subsidies and open the government so we can resume what remains of shattered lives? Also, if you refuse to pay our military, how about foregoing your paycheck? Thank you for your attention to this matter.

But the real facts are that more whites than blacks receive the government handout. And yes it's usually women who are trying to feed their children, who may not eat if it weren't for the handouts from Uncle Sam. For example a percentage of West Virginians are families of out-of-work miners and laborers who depend on the food stamps and WIC to get by. A lot of them voted for Chump too.

The rightwingers think anybody who is on "welfare" is a lazy bum, and everybody who receives safety net help are people too "lazy" to work.

The truth of the matter is working people are the chief beneficiaries of "food stamps"--SNAP. A number of years ago, when former representative John Kasich came to Oregon to campaign for the GOP presidential nomination, I mentioned this fact, and he agreed with me. You should have heard the gasps from the audience.

"Food stamps" don't exist anymore and haven't for years. Virtually everybody is on ATM cards which receive the benefits.

Millions upon millions of people think "other" people are getting "something for nothing."

Never mind the reality the rich are actually the ones who are getting "something for nothing."

The safety net is a useful tool for these rightwingers to take people's minds off the real culprits. LBJ nailed it sixty years ago about them.
